A multi-faceted personality, Madhu Jain has many talents and interests to her credit. She is keen on gardening, cooking, ikebana, bonsai, music, sports, language and travel apart from being a gifted artist. A lover of nature, the rich traditions of art of the Far Eat inspired her and she set about learning the language and the traditional art of Japan. The subtle charm of sumi-e and the eco-friendly nihonga enriched her creativity. She is perhaps the only Indian woman who has learnt and practices these Japanese art traditions. Her love of Indian rural landscapes found a new meaning with the vibrant rock-mineral pigments of nihonga to create her own artistic expression. "Nihonga is an obsession for me, a unique reward. I enjoy conveying my experiences and emotions ...achieving inexorable depth and dimension with the layering of these mineral pigments."
